Growing Together
A community mural, painted in one Sunday morning.

Growing Together is a collaborative mural painted on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Casa de la Asociación Amor al Prójimo in Apopka. The image celebrates the families and roots of the community — the Apopka water tower, a Venezuelan-Latin American family at the table, fruit from home, and a sun that holds it all together.
Growing Together was organized by Crecemos Todos Foundation as part of the Día Internacional de la Familia celebration. I designed the mural as a paint-by-shape piece so anyone — kids, parents, abuelos — could pick up a brush and feel like part of the work. The whole wall was drawn out in advance on the white fence, color-coded by region. On Sunday morning the community showed up, the shapes filled in one by one, and by noon the mural was finished. Alongside the wall, I built a small set of mobile games — Paint, Puzzle, Sound, Jigsaw — so people who came (and people who couldn't) could carry the mural home in their pocket.

01Before — The Design
Six wood panels drawn out at the studio, color-coded by area — red, blue, green, orange — so every shape would have a paint assigned before the community arrived. Designed paint-by-shape, so anyone could pick up a brush and contribute.
02Day Of — Setup at the Casa
Panels installed on the fence at Casa de la Asociación Amor al Prójimo, outlines visible, paint and brushes laid out. The wall is ready; the community is on its way in.
03During — The Paint Jam
Sunday morning, 8 AM to 12 PM. About thirty hands — children, parents, friends — picking up brushes and filling shapes. The wall went from outline to color in four hours.
04After — The Mural
The finished wall: the Apopka water tower, the city skyline, a family at the table with arepas and tropical fruit. Bilingual roots, painted together, on the way into the Casa.
✦ Mobile CompanionPlay the Mural
Alongside the wall, I built four mobile experiences so anyone — at the event or at home — could keep playing with Growing Together: paint it digitally, slide it back together, hear it as an instrument, or snap it together as a jigsaw.
Open the Games →The people who showed up and made it real — neighbors, families, kids from the Casa, and friends who drove in for the morning.

The finished wall, lived in. Families, friends, and the people who painted it stopping to stand in front of Growing Together at Casa de la Asociación Amor al Prójimo.
Growing Together belongs to Casa de la Asociación Amor al Prójimo and to the community of Apopka. Painted in one morning, May 17, 2026.
